The Way to Happiness
L. Ron Hubbard pursued his research in the realm of religion but he was always trying to bring solutions to the the world at large, urged on by humanitarian concerns. With no real connection to his religious writings, as the church already had its own moral and religious codes, he understood the necessity for a non-religious moral code.
He wrote the Way to Happiness which is the first non-religious moral code based entirely on common sense. It appeals to the intelligence of the reader, be he man, woman or child.
Living in an immoral society is more than difficult where the fundamental values of man are ridiculed. Our individual survival is constantly threatened. To arrest the moral decline of society, each of the twenty one precepts (rules) of the Way to Happiness can be applied to anyone. Here are some of the precepts: “Safeguard and improve your environment”, “Be worthy of trust” and “Fulfill your obligations”. These and others are clearly explained and illustrated by examples. With this, one can understand how to make these rules a part of ones life and get them known to those around one. Whatever life one is living, one can compare these rules to the sides of a road. If one breaks these rules, it is as if one has swerved off of the main road. Doing this can destroy everything: a moment, a relationship or an entire life. If one sticks to these rules, one has every chance of real and long lasting happiness.
